Cabinet Approves ₹1,507 Cr Airport Project in Kota-Bundi

Kota-Bundi to Get ₹1,507 Cr Greenfield Airport

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) plan to build a new greenfield airport in Kota-Bundi, Rajasthan, at an estimated cost of ₹1,507 crore. The new airport will be able to handle 2 million passengers every year and is expected to give a big boost to the region’s industrial and educational growth.

Why Kota-Bundi Needs a New Airport

Kota is known as the industrial hub of Rajasthan and is also famous across India for its coaching institutes that attract lakhs of students each year. However, the existing Kota airport is too small, with limited runway length, parking space, and passenger handling capacity. It can only serve small aircraft and just 50 passengers at peak hours. Because of space constraints, the current airport cannot be expanded for commercial operations.

What the New Airport Will Offer

The Rajasthan government has already transferred 440 hectares of land to AAI for the project. The upcoming airport will be able to handle A-321 type aircraft and will feature:

  • A 20,000 sq m terminal that can handle 1,000 passengers per hour
  • An annual capacity of 2 million passengers
  • A 3,200 m long runway
  • Seven aircraft parking bays
  • Two link taxiways, an ATC tower, fire station, car park, and other modern facilities

Once completed, the new Kota-Bundi Greenfield Airport will greatly improve air connectivity, benefiting students, industries, and travelers in the region.
