OpenAI has introduced a new subscription plan called ChatGPT Go, designed specifically for users in India. Priced at ₹399 per month, it is the company’s most budget-friendly plan so far, aimed at giving more people access to advanced ChatGPT features without the higher cost of Plus or Pro.
What you get with ChatGPT Go
The Go plan builds on the free version by adding:
- Access to GPT-5, OpenAI’s latest and most powerful model
- Higher daily message limits
- More image generations and file uploads
- Expanded use of advanced data tools like Python
- Double the memory compared to free accounts, so conversations can remember more context
While the Go plan covers most day-to-day needs, it does not include extras like connectors, legacy models, or Sora video generation, which remain part of the higher-priced Plus (₹1,999/month) and Pro (₹19,900/month) plans.
How to get it
The plan is being rolled out gradually. Users can check if it’s available by logging into their ChatGPT account, tapping their profile icon, and selecting “Upgrade Plan”. If eligible, they’ll see the “Try Go” option to subscribe.
Subscribers can use Go features across the ChatGPT mobile apps and even through WhatsApp at 1-800-ChatGPT. However, API usage is not included and will continue to be billed separately.
Payment options
For the first time, OpenAI is offering local payment methods for this plan. Users can pay in Indian rupees via UPI or credit cards, making it easier to subscribe. Billing is monthly, and subscriptions can be cancelled anytime.
Why it matters
The launch of ChatGPT Go comes shortly after OpenAI raised the prices of its existing plans in India. With Plus now at ₹1,999 and Pro at ₹19,900, the Go plan offers a much more affordable way for users to access GPT-5 and other premium features.
OpenAI says it will use feedback from Indian users before deciding whether to expand ChatGPT Go to other countries.
