Kota, Rajasthan: The newly built Government Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy Integrated College in Talwandi, Kota has officially opened its doors, marking a major milestone in promoting traditional medicine and wellness education in Rajasthan. The inauguration ceremony was led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and AYUSH Minister Premchand Bairwa on Thursday.
Ayurveda and Yoga: India’s Ancient Science of Balanced Living
During his address, Om Birla emphasized that Ayurveda and Yoga represent India’s ancient lifestyle and the holistic science of health and wellness. He stated that these traditional practices not only heal the body but also restore the mind’s balance, aligning with India’s cultural heritage.
Birla proposed naming the institution after former MP Vaidya Daudayal Joshi as a tribute to his invaluable contributions to Ayurveda. He thanked the Rajasthan government for supporting this proposal.
Kota to Become a Hub for Ayurveda and Wellness
Highlighting future plans, Birla announced the development of a 50-bigha Ayurveda Medicity and Medicinal Park in Kota. The project aims to promote health tourism, create local employment, and make Kota a major national centre for Yoga, Ayurveda, and naturopathy research.
He also encouraged the promotion of clinical research, hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, and massage therapy, stressing the need for scientific standardisation to maintain the quality of Ayurvedic products and treatments.
AYUSH Mission to Strengthen Ayurveda Infrastructure
Speaking at the event, Deputy CM Premchand Bairwa said, “Ayurveda is the art of living and the science of balance with nature.” He expressed confidence that Kota will soon become a major hub for Ayurveda and Yoga education.
Bairwa added that Rajasthan is leading the country in AYUSH and Ayurveda development, with an action plan worth ₹348 crore approved under the National AYUSH Mission. The plan includes establishing a new Ayurvedic hospital in Bundi, further expanding the healthcare network across the state.
Honouring Excellence in Ayurveda
Earlier, the Ministry of AYUSH conferred the National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2025 to Prof Banwari Lal Gaur, Vaidya Neelakandhan Mooss E.T., and Vaidya Bhavana Prasher for their remarkable contributions to the academic, traditional, and scientific advancement of Ayurveda in India.
