Meta Launches AI-Powered Voice Translation Across Facebook, Instagram

Meta has officially launched its AI-driven voice translation tool for creators on Facebook and Instagram, a feature designed to break language barriers and expand audience reach worldwide.

The technology, now available globally wherever Meta AI is supported, allows creators to dub their videos into another language while preserving their own voice, tone, and style. At launch, the tool supports English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translations, with more languages expected soon.

Natural Voice Dubbing with Lip-Sync

Unlike traditional dubbing tools that sound robotic, Meta’s system uses generative AI to replicate the creator’s authentic voice. An optional lip-sync feature ensures that translated speech matches mouth movements, creating a more natural and immersive viewing experience.

Before posting, creators can preview both the translated audio and lip-sync, and they retain the option to toggle the feature off at any time. To maintain transparency, translated reels will include a small note indicating that AI was used.

Who Gets Access?

For now, the feature is rolling out to Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers, along with all public Instagram accounts. Through Meta Business Suite, Facebook creators can also upload up to 20 dubbed audio tracks per reel, enabling multilingual engagement beyond just English and Spanish audiences.

Insights for Global Growth

Meta is also updating Insights with a new metric that shows audience views by language. This gives creators a clearer picture of their international reach and helps them understand where their content resonates most.

To get the best results, Meta recommends recording reels while facing forward, speaking clearly, minimizing background noise, and keeping dialogue to no more than two speakers.

A Step Toward Borderless Audiences

The feature was first teased at last year’s Meta Connect developer conference, where early pilots demonstrated voice translation in Reels. Now, it’s part of Meta’s broader effort to arm creators with tools that foster global connections.

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri framed the launch as a way to unlock new opportunities:

If we can help you reach people who speak other languages, break cultural and linguistic barriers, and grow your following globally—we can make Instagram and Facebook even more valuable for you,” Mosseri explained.

This marks a major step in Meta’s broader push to expand its AI-driven creator tools, signaling a future where content can travel across borders more seamlessly than ever before.
