Instagram Introduces Reel Linking to Boost Engagement and Content Discovery

Instagram has rolled out a new feature that allows creators to link their reels together, making it easier to build connected stories and ongoing series. Users can now add links to previous reels either through captions or by tapping the overflow menu on already shared reels.

The update is designed to help creators organize related content, guide viewers through multi-part videos, and increase discovery of older reels. Instagram also recommends giving linked reels a title to make navigation clearer for audiences.

With this update, creators can build stronger engagement by keeping viewers hooked across multiple reels—whether it’s for tutorials, storytelling, or follow-up content.

Instagram introduced "Reels Linking," also called "Linked Reels," to allow users to connect Reels and add a clickable button directing viewers from one Reel to the next, creating a similar flow to YouTube Shorts. This feature is rolling out in August 2025 and provides a way for creators to guide their audience through a series of related content directly within the Reels format.

Why this feature is important

Enhanced viewer experience:
It creates a more engaging way to consume related content, similar to a short-form video series.

Increased engagement:
It encourages users to watch more content from a creator, leading to deeper engagement and longer watch times.

Directing traffic:
It's a powerful tool for directing viewers to more information, products, or other related content within the Instagram ecosystem.
